Shaping your eyebrows is like shaping your personality. Your eyebrows have everything to do with your makeup and are your faces most changeable feature. Your eyebrows are a combination of what nature has given you and how your personality defines your nature. They define your character and can completely change the look of your face. There is no makeup trick that will help you look better than a pair of beautiful eyebrows. So buy a good pair of tweezers and develop the skills to use them. There are no set rules as far as eyebrow shaping is concerned. Most of us keep our eyebrows natural looking by staying with the natural shape. You do not want to alter your natural arch. Your brow should fade out gradually beyond the outer corner of the eye. When shaping your brows you can make your eyes seem smaller, larger, closer-set or farther apart. After you create the shape that is right for your face, eyes, and your style, use makeup to enhance the arch and then you can play with the brow shaping. A thicker brow gives you more of a soft and more youthful look while a thinner brow shape can make you look harder and older. Your eyebrows should be a flattering frame for the eye, in proportion to your other features of the face, and to the size of your face. If your eyebrows are untidy and shapeless, they can ruin your makeup effect. To enhance the brows, you should thin out the hairs to help create balance. You can achieve the natural shape by tweezing, waxing, or using an eyebrow pencil. Your eyebrows should lend interest, balance and intrigue to your facial features. Before you start tweezing, wash your tweezers with mild detergent and rinse. Then dampen a washcloth with very warm water and hold it gently against the area you are going to tweeze. This cleans the area and opens the follicles slightly so it will be easier and less painful to tweeze. A good way to start tweezing or plucking your brows is to look in the mirror, hold a pencil vertically against the highest bone on the side of the nose and note where it meets the brow. Do this on both sides of the nose. The brow should begin in line with the inner corner of the eye. Then pluck only in between. When determining the end of your eyebrow, you should extend a pencil (or you can use your tweezers) diagonally from your nostrils, over the outer edge of your eye toward the brow and where it lands is where your eyebrow should end. After you pluck a few brow hairs, stop and look in the mirror to see how you are doing as you can always tweeze more. You can pluck the hairs that exceed these boundaries or you can extend brows with a pencil line to reach them. Another rule of thumb or eyebrow guideline is to take excess hairs away from below the arch of the brow and not above it. This will help keep the natural arch and helps lift the eye visually. Another way of taking care of stray brow hairs is waxing. It is easier to have it done at a salon as it can be dangerous to use hot wax near your eyes.
