Tips for Making New Year’s Beauty Resolutions a Reality

The beginning of a new year is a great time to think of all the changes you would like to make in your life. While you are thinking about changes in your beauty habits it is good to go beyond just thinking about changing your lipstick color.

It is a time to start thinking about all the bad stuff we do to our bodies, minds, spirits and also our hair. Remember if you write them down and even share them with someone it is harder to just ignore them.

Also remember if you do something for three weeks it becomes a habit.

As the New Year approaches our thoughts seems to focus on losing those extra pounds or set goals for the New Year.

It is a time when you promise to get glowing with some healthy eating habits and gym joining intentions.

Here are a few beauty resolutions you could implement like one a month throughout the year. And think year around and not just New Year’s. Nothing big gets accomplished in one day. Resolutions are set in one day but accomplished with lots of tiny steps that happen during the whole year.

Create a Plan

When you set a goal without formulating a plan it is just wishful thinking. In order for your resolution to have resolve, (as the word “resolution” implies), it must translate into clear steps that you can put into action. Here are two steps to a good plan: what to do next and what are all of the steps required to complete the goal.

Set a Goal

Make a goal to lose those stubborn five to ten pounds you had gradually put on. Just remember you didn’t put them on in one day so it takes time to take them off the right way. Eat right and exercise to take the pounds off safe.

Make One Big Change

Consider making one big beauty change such as trying a new hair style, haircut, trying blonde highlights, covering the grey, doing a reverse frost, or having your teeth bleached.

Drink Water

Drink lots of water each day and avoid caffeine. Think about the little things you can do each day to improve your appearance such as sit straight, stand and stretch throughout the day, or never ride when you can walk.

Work-Out

If you are rethink your beauty priorities there is nothing that makes you look and feel as good as a regular exercise program. Whether you enjoy swimming, tennis, volleyball, racquetball, walking, or biking, develop the discipline to stick with a sport or activity. Even a 15 to 30 minute walk a day makes a difference.

Go to a Spa

Close your eyes and think about an exercise vacation or a visit to a spa or fitness resort. This will help your mind and body have lasting benefits. Or you could treat yourself to scented candles, fluffy towels, and fragranced oils and create your own spa in your own home. If you don’t have a resort close maybe you have a local massage parlor.

Sleep Well

Be sure and get at least eight hours of sleep each night. Getting enough sleep will help your overall skin tone, your complexion will brighten, the circles under your eyes will fade, and your energy level will improve.

Eat Healthier

When eating habits need changing, baby steps work best. Keeping track of what you do each day will have an impact on your new plan. And track your progress every day. Rethinking your diet can help maximize your level of energy. Experiment by eliminating certain foods or eat one vegetable (something green) at your evening meal.

See Your Doctor

Schedule your annual appointments with your doctor and dentist and schedule your next year’s appointment at the time you leave the doctor’s office.

Try a New Look

Schedule an appointment with a make up artist or get a facial for a fresh take on what you might do to enhance your natural features. Just remember not to feel pressured to buy as you can always just say you are just looking for new ideas at this time.

Clean Your Closet

Take a look at your closet and take a good look at what you have. You can give clothes away you haven’t worn for at least 18 months. You can also do the same with your beauty drawer, throwing away any cosmetics you are not currently using.

Getting on track can be easy if you make your list and prioritize your list.
