Missouri Army National Guard

SFC Finney began his military career as a Field Artillery Surveyor with the Missouri Army National Guard. He was assigned to HHS 1-129th FA in Maryville, MO and continued as a regular Guardsman for 22 years before accepting a position as a recruiter. 

He lives in the Burlington Jct - Skidmore and his children attend West Nodaway R-1 High School. Both he and his wife are also graduates of West Nodaway High School. 

Their son Matthew is a member of the MO Army National Guard in Maryville and has recently returned after serving in Afghanistan for the past year.  He joined as a 17 year old junior in high school and attended Basic Training during the summer between his junior and senior year. 

SFC Finney served as a part time Citizen-Soldier for 16 years before accepting a full time position with the Guard. During that time he taught school for 8 years and also worked for the Nodaway County Sheriff's Department.
